Race Preview: DTRA Nationals Round 6, Redcar Bears Speedway, Middlesbrough
Updated: Aug 6, 2019
Entries are now open for Round 6, the penultimate round in the DTRA Nationals championship, which sees us returning to the fantastic track at Redcar Bears Speedway in Middlesbrough on 17th and 18th August. We raced at this northern track for the first time last season and by all accounts it was one of the most memorable weekends of the year; not only did the excellent track make for some really exciting racing, we were all made to feel very welcome by the team and we can’t wait to head back.
As things stand in the Pro class, Spanish rider Gerard Bailo is on course for the top spot, with Gary Birtwistle and Ferran Sastre currently in second and third place respectively. Simon Parkin is leading the Inters class; Dan Ridge is up front in Thunderbikes; and Franck Casoli is heading up the Rookies. Take a look at all of the most up to date results for our Nationals and Hooligans championship here on Speedhive.
We’re looking forward to seeing many of you in Tynemouth on the Friday evening for the ‘Death Rides a Horse’ Deus film screening; unfortunately due to venue restrictions this event is strictly ticket-only and quickly sold out, but if you’re coming along, don’t forget to bring your road bikes for a ride-out from Newcastle before the event.
Signing up to race in the Nationals Round 6
First, and most importantly, you MUST sign up - and pay - in advance for each class you wish to race in over the weekend of Round 6.
Race entries close at midday on Friday 9th August. If you need to be reminded of how entry fees work, take a look at our 2019 Entry Pack and Class Regulations.
About the course at Redcar Bears Speedway

We can’t guarantee the weather, but it’s good to have an idea of what the weekend might look like. As we’ve mentioned, the team at Redcar Bears Speedway are outstanding with their track prep so we should be ready for most eventualities.
Keep an eye on the Middlesbrough weather forecast below so you know what gear to pack.
For those of you wondering, we only ever call off races if the weather forecast is exceptionally poor. We appreciate that many of our riders have long distances to travel, so if a race needs to be called off, we always aim to make the announcement in plenty of time beforehand. In the instance of a cancelled round, we will attempt to schedule a rain date after the end of the season.
We hope that this should be everything you need to know to prepare for Round 6 of the Nationals championship in Middlesbrough.
