Race Preview: DTRA Nationals Round 6 & Hooligans Round 4 2021, Greenfield Dirt Track TT

It’s hard to believe that this year’s DTRA flat track racing season is almost over, but it’s time to get ready for our sixth and final round at Greenfield Dirt Track in Lincolnshire on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th September, presented in partnership with Indian Motorcycle.

This will be our second visit of the season to the UK’s only purpose-built dirt track facility, created by Hooligan rider and Indian Motorcycle team member George Pickering - this year we commissioned an awesome film all about George and his track, it’s called ‘Grounded’ and you can check it out here. Along with his family, George kindly hosts us for two rounds every season, and his team pulls out all the stops to ensure that the track is kept fully prepped and that we can all race safely. There’s nowhere like Greenfield and it’s only right that we finish the season there.

This race meeting will be open to spectators. All attendees are requsted to 'Check In' on the NHS COVID-19 app upon arrival.

Here’s everything you’ll need to know about getting ready for racing at Greenfield Dirt Track.

Entries are now closed for Round 6

Thank you to everyone who has signed up to race with us, entries are now closed.

Late entries remain at the discretion of the DTRA and will be subject to an additional £15 fee. If you need to be reminded of how entry fees work, take a look at our 2021 Entry Pack and Class Regulations.

About the TT at Greenfield Dirt Track

The track at Greenfield Dirt Track consists of hard-packed, rich Lincolnshire clay, which when worked in the right way by the track team, attains a nice and wide ‘blue groove’ over the course of the day. The grippy, consistent groove makes for fast, close racing, and is why this track is so favoured by our riders. The TT jump is a mellow tabletop, which suits every type of rider from Rookies to Pros; it’s your call as to whether you hit it fast, or low and slow.

Here’s where to find the track:

Running order and racing times

Here’s how the weekend of Round 6 looks so far.

SATURDAY - PRO, ADULT INTER, HOOLIGAN, ALL YOUTH CLASSES - 2 PM ONWARDS

SUNDAY - ROOKIE, MINI MOD, MINI STOCK, VINTAGE, THUNDERBIKES & TWINS - 10.30am ONWARDS

Track facilities for riders and spectators

As a grass-roots dirt track facility, Greenfield doesn’t have amenities such as a bar, cafe or showers, but it does have all of the essentials for some of the very best weekends in the DTRA calendar. Please note some facilities may be limited or unavailable due to COVID-19 safety restrictions so please arrive prepared.

Here’s what you’ll find at the track:

  • Well-maintained, separate male and female toilets

  • Running water (safe to drink, but not to everyone’s taste so bring bottled water if you’d prefer)

  • Loads of trackside space for parking and camping

  • Spectator platforms and elevated viewing areas

There isn’t any shelter around Greenfield Dirt Track, so we strongly recommend bringing a gazebo - large enough for your bike(s) and for yourself. It’s also in the heart of rolling countryside with not much for miles around, so make sure to bring camping gear, and all the food and drink you’ll need for the weekend, not forgetting your own cooking equipment!

Nearby amenities to Greenfield Dirt Track

As we’ve mentioned above, Greenfield boasts a magical and peaceful location in the Lincolnshire countryside. That means there aren’t any amenities immediately nearby, but you’re never more than a short drive from fuel or extra food. Here are some places, mostly in Alford, that you might find useful.

Local amenities may still be subject to COVID-19 restrictions and so we encourage our riders to check individual restrictions and opening times for anywhere you wish to visit around the track.

Weather

We can’t guarantee the weather, but it’s useful to have an idea of what the weekend might look like. Keep an eye on the Lincolnshire weather forecast below so you know what gear to pack.

For those of you wondering, we only ever call off races if the weather forecast is exceptionally poor. We appreciate that many of our riders have long distances to travel, so if a race needs to be called off, we always aim to make the announcement in plenty of time beforehand.

So that should be all the information that you need ahead of the final round of the 2021 Nationals and Hooligans championships. If you have any further questions, PLEASE check our website first to see whether your query is answered there - otherwise, please just drop us an email at info@dirttrackriders.co.uk, or message us on Facebook and we’ll get back to you as quickly as we can.

Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram too, and of course keep checking this blog for photos, videos and updates from throughout the racing season. Please make sure you tag your own posts with #DTRA so we don’t miss them and can repost!

To all riders, travel safe, and see you at the UK’s finest dirt track to bring the 2021 season to a close.
